Unique Features And Strengths
**Tourkovounia Blue (Τουρκοβούνια - "Μπλέ") is once again accessible for climbing after nearly 30 years!** The crag is located on the North side of Tourkovounia (337m), the highest hill of Athens Municipality, and is shaded throughout the day.
Approach
To approach the sector, arrive at the old view-point at (38.007842, 23.756316) from which visible large blue circle blue marks lead the way downhill and then continue to the left. A section is protected with fixed ropes.
The closest parking is on Ipirou ("Ηπείρου") street (38.006542, 23.756089), while there is an approach without parking from Leof. Attikou Alsous ("Λεοφ. Αττικού Άλσους") starting at (38.007191, 23.754760). This second approach is also clearly marked with blue.
History
**Tourkovounia Blue** was established in 1995-96 as a *top-rope sector* by G. Kirtzoglou and K. Gkolfinopoulou, with the help of T. Michailidis, A. Skeuofulakas, G. Aliferi, and V. Pavlou.
In 2025 climbers F. Theocharis, N. Simos, and O. Mitrou renewed the sector by bolting it, thus offering climbers a North-facing option at the popular Tourkovounia area.
