The route developers have dedicated significant effort to ensuring the safety of coastal climbing, with most bolts on seaside cliffs being glue-in inox anchors or inox bolts. Nevertheless, always remain vigilant as climbing by the coast can be particularly hazardous, and consult the guidebooks for re-bolting dates. Given the humid winters, there is also a focus on removing moss from certain routes in the spring, so please help out when you can (without endangering any protected species).
A clean climbing movement is gaining traction, so while some older areas may feature bolted cracks, modern crags typically allow for trad climbing.
Overall, the majority of local climbers are generous in sharing their new developments and are welcoming to visitors, with only a few anecdotal exceptions in specific locations.
