Description
Sa Preta Istampata, also known as Afghanistan, is a cozy crag located in eastern Sardinia. The mostly vertical limestone rock faces offer a variety of climbing possibilities for intermediate and experienced climbers. The entire crag was almost completely rebolted in 2023 with stainless steel glue-in bolts, making it well-protected.
Most routes at the Afghanistan's crag were established between 2001 and 2007. Their names such as Jihad, Bin Laden, Tora Bora, and Kabul, reference the war in the Afghanistan, giving the crag a unique-provocative character.
The quality of the rock is generally good; however, caution/helmet is still advised.
The crag can be windy due to its location on a hill exposed to the south and west. Trees near the crag provide some shade for belayers, and the area around the crag is not overgrown, making it a suitable spot for chilling.
