Description

A long route located in the Las Hiedras canyon. Although the route is only 110 meters long, there's a 300-meter drop below, and the view of the valley and the ocean is breathtaking: an incredible experience guaranteed! It's fully equipped, but it's not a route for beginners. Not that the difficulty is high, but the area is wild and the terrain makes retreat impossible. Access is from the top of the route in a style reminiscent of the Verdon Gorge. The name itself is a reference to the Verdon Gorge: Corteza means "slab," and in the past, the first climbers who equipped the upper sections of the Escalades cliff were mocked by the older climbers who said they only climbed the "slab" of the mountain, the hard, compact upper part, unlike the "real" climbers who tackled the entire face. Back in Tenerife: we descended in four short rappels or two longer ones for those with 60-meter ropes. Rappels 2 and 3 can even be combined with 50-meter ropes. The route is beautiful; only pitch 2 is less interesting. The bolts are solid, and there's no sense of danger. Highly recommended! Ethic

Please keep the crags noise free and clean. Take your trash and toilet papers with you. Locals tend to bring dogs to the crag. It is good manners to use your own gear at the anchors for lowering or setting up top-ropes. Use the anchor rings/carabiners only for the final lower-off after cleaning.
