Description

A few brief routes in a lovely environment near the Ermita de la Mare de Deu de Montsant.

Access Issues

The areas located to the west of Sant Joan are subject to a climbing prohibition from 31 December to 1 July. Additionally, there are indications that the establishment of new routes through bolting is permitted, provided that the Park is informed in advance. Certain sections of the cliff face are permanently off-limits for bird conservation, particularly in the region between L'Escletxa and el Trinquet; signage marks the precise limits.

Approach

From Cornudella, head north towards Albarca. Traverse through the village and park your vehicle just beyond the last houses where the path splits. Ascend the footpath (marked to Mare de Deu) and adhere to the signs (50 min). The guidebook by Buxó and Alfonso recommends driving directly to the Ermita (10 min, decent road, partially paved). However, the signage indicates that this is not allowed; at times, the road is even obstructed by a liftgate.
