Description
Isolated area away from the most popular venues. Good sport routes on average quality rock with an athmosphere more like a mountain crag rather than a sport climbing area. Newly developed area, so very good bolt quality.
Access Issues
Climbing is restricted every year between 1st February and 30th June due to Hawk nests. Please respect this restriction to continue having access.
Approach
From Arico take the descending road towards Abades. Pass by the cemetery and take a right-hand turn towards Chiqueron, and quickly park on narrow lay-bys near a water tank (🅿️ (28.160157, -16.489704)). Take the first dirt track on the right and follow this on foot to the end (600m, with 4WD also driveable). Then follow a goat track northwards, which passes on top of the crag, so you'll have to cut back south descending, to reach the crag. The crag that is further north is 'El Saltadero'.
Ethic
Please keep the crags noise free and clean. Take your trash and toilet papers with you. Locals tend to bring dogs to the crag.
It is good manners to use your own gear at the anchors for lowering or setting up top-ropes. Use the anchor rings/carabiners only for the final lower-off after cleaning.
